Showcase Team

The OTN Performane National Showcase team is comprised of the top talent all from all over the Ohio and midwest region. This summer OTN will compete in a number of highly competitive 18u showcase tournaments against nationally ranked teams.

The Coaching Staff

 

Head Coach: Dave Kajganich- Coach Kajganich is the assistant coach at Tri-C in Cleveland, OH. He has been able to develop an incredibly successful Team Ohio program that has been quite successful over a the past few summers. This is his first year with OTN and he brings both an understanding of what it means to be competitive and a number of very talented ball players.

 

 


Assistant Coach: John Schaly- John Schaly is the Head Coach at Ashland University it Ashland, OH. He has helped Ashland become one of the top DII programs in the state while also providing his son the opportunity to play baseball at Stetson University in Florida. Coach Schaly and Coach Kajganich coached Team Ohio last year that boasted an impressive resume of tournament wins.

 

 


Pitching Coach: Joe Gabriel - Coach Gabriel played his college ball at Hiram College. He served as the Pitching coach for Springfield High School for almost 10 years. He is now in his second year as the Pitching coach for the Boardman Spartans. Over the last three years coach Gabriel ran the 18U Ohio Glaciers travel team along with Scott Knox and Jim Ciambotti. This will be coach Gabriel's first year with OTN, and he will be in charge of business development along with helping coach Kajganich put together the 18U Showcase team.


Assistant Coach: Scott Knox - Scott Knox has been a mainstay in the Tri-County community for many years. He was a dominant force at Cene Park for many years and he also coached the 18u Ohio Glaciers to numerous national and regional accolades. He is the head coach at Columbiana High School which finished second in the state in 2011.

 

 


Assistant Coach: Neil Schaffner - Coach Schaffner played college baseball at Union College KY. He played professional baseball in the Frontier League for the Portsmouth Explorers. He has 9 years of college coaching experience, most notably with the University of Virginia. Neil was also involved with player development for the Cleveland Indians from 2004-2006.

 

 


Conditioning Coach and Trainer: Zack Byler - Coach Byler played college baseball at Martin Methodist and Shawnee State. He was OTN's 14u coach under Head Coach Neil Schaffner is 2011. In January 2012 he will be participating in an internship at Cressey Performance one of the top baseball strength and conditioning facilities in the country. Cressey Performance is located in Hudson, MA and provides training to many of the Boston Red Sox players. Coach Byler will aid in making sure that players recover over the long season and maintain their strength.
